Working from home | Covid-19

Working from home | Covid-19

If you're new to working from home (wherever home may be!) it can be hard to separate work life and home life, when they are happening in the same place. We've put together a few tips to help you stay balanced!

01. TIME

Overworking is a real issue! Try to define the hours you will start and finish and stick to it each day. Be sure to give yourself a full 60 minute break in between (a break which involves leaving your laptop!)

02. CLOTHING

Change out of your pyjamas and dress as if you were leaving the house. This will help get you in the right headspace for work.

03. FOOD

Be excited about the food + drink you choose to consume, just as you would when you're out! Whether it's a juicy burger, a saucy salad or your favourite latte (because you've been working on your latte art?) - make sure it brings you some joy because caring for ourselves during these uncertain times is a priority.

04. WORKSPACE

Create a workspace that is comfortable, and perhaps near a window? Try to ensure that your back is supported and your neck is at a comfortable height to your screen.

05. BEDROOM

Your bedroom is your sacred space for winding down and sleeping - where work is banned! This will help to make the work-life divide clearer, and stop you from feeling burnt out!

06. SIGN OFF

Once you have finished for the day, turn all work-related notifications off, especially if you're signed in on your personal devices. Keeping work and leisure away from each other is key.

07. UNPLUG

It's easy to sit on Netflix or scroll through social media on your phone. But try to have some technology-free time. Reading a book or getting some fresh air in your garden will help you relax your mind.

08. PLAYTIME

If it's not in your schedule, it's not a priority! Make time for pleasure. Whether it's a movie, a puzzle, a workout, painting or reading a book - schedule time in to do something that you love.

09. HUMANS

Stay connected to your family and friends, and make sure you talk to real humans on FaceTime or Zoom or Houseparty!

10. BODY

Keep your body moving and try to stretch with some yoga, or a home workout to avoid having stiff muscles.
